Seasons

In a two week span I had one of the greatest weeks of my life and one of the lowest two days of my life. It's interesting how life works that way. I had this beautiful week of rekindling friendships and cultivating new ones that have quickly become very important in my life.

Time was spent laughing at great stories, eating great food and looking forward to what God was doing in our lives. It was a glimpse of the Kingdom right in front of me. Heaven had collided with earth and for a brief moment it seemed that a veil had been pulled back and all the beauty of the world was right in front of me. Then the next week came along.

It was a difficult week for many of my friends and it seemed that all of our troubles were tied into the same category. Eventually, everything worked out, quite well, in my life and the pieces are beginning to come together for my friends as well.

I was discussing this strange turn of events with a great friend at the coffee shop and we began talking about this idea of life coming in seasons. That great work of wisdom from Solomon comes to mind in Ecclesiastes, when he lays out how life seems to rotate and move in such a way as to keep us on our toes.

So it leads me to conclude here, hold on. Hold on if life is ripping you apart. Know that on the other side of this dark time, there is light. Hold on if life is beautiful and nothing could be better. Enjoy this day and be grateful for this day with the full knowledge that on the other side of this day is a day full of strife. For those in the Kingdom, know that life is hard but it's worth the breathing.
